Monday Feb 15, 2010

So yesterday was my first work day that I was not an employee of Pepsi. Sad, but good. I was able to work on home school with Natalie and Topher. We only worked on science and reading. They were both attentive and interested, so I am happy with that. Today I'm thinking math and social studies, maybe. I'm also thinking we'll raid the library.
My exercise goals, fell flat yesterday...only 15 mins of consecutive exercise. But, there was the walmart walking and I tried to get in the occasional leg left or squat.
I have a new goal of spending the first few moments of the day with God. Nothing big or exciting, just me talking to Him. This didn't happen on Monday, the extra time I mean.
On to the boring food log...
Breakfast:
1 bowl of weight control oatmeal
10 oz of fat free milk
tsp slpenda
tsp cocoa
2 kiwis
Lunch
1/2 grilled chicken breast
1/2 avocado
1 Roma tomato
.5L water
Snack
cheese stick
.5L water
Supper
1 1/2 baked potatoes
1 cup steamed broccoli
3/4 cup mushrooms
2 tsp fake butter
2 tsp fat free sour cream
tea with splenda
2 truffles (see Sunday)

So it looks like my water intake is as low as my exercise. Both of these have to really come up. Not only due to the weigh in, but due to my expected high intact of food this weekend at Captain Georges!

*** The homemade candy
Perhaps you will note the date as Valentines day. It is very hard to think of what to get a man for such a day other than candy. And what do you do when your Valentine is on a Diet? I did my best to make something sweet that was not too horrible. I modified Tiffany's truffles, http://www.tiffanys-kitchen.com/?p=408, to fit better within out diet. I used whole wheat flour, I can't believe its not butter, splenda brown sugar, fat free sweetened condensed milk, and I did add the walnuts. I dipped a few of them like normal, but most of them, I just drizzled the candy coating over. So we were able to get the taste of chocolate, but not all the fat.

Biggest loser

I was going to recap the first weeks food journal, but I really don't feel like typing it all out right now. Laziness is besting me on my first post. Alas I will try to do better. You may wonder why I even care about what I have eaten, it is a rather odd habit I've tried to develop. But Chris and I, along with my mom, grandma, and brother, have joined a weight loss competition. And, is there anything so motivating as cash? So for the next, no 11 weeks we will be on a journey of healthy eating and exercise.
It is no secret that this is not my area of expertise. But I cannot say that I really have an area that is. I look forward to the end result, so I am going to try my best to stay on track. I have done pretty good the first week....not that I am typing proof of it, but trust me. Now for the scary numbers....dare I type my weight?
We weighed in on Saturday February 6 2010. We will go back to check the scales biweekly.

Week 1 198 lbs

I have a goal of at least 30 lbs before the end of the game. I really think that I can do it. My main goal is 50 pounds, but I'm going in baby steps. My goal for the first weigh in is to have lost 10 pounds. The first ones are the easy ones.
Chris is doing very well. He has more focus than I do. He is not as easily swayed by a pretty peice of chocolate. His goal is a lot harder to reach than mine, but if anyone can do, it would be him.
I think this week will be even harder than the first week. Last week I had to get over my addicition to caffeine and sugar. This week I know I am going to get tired of the same foods as last week. But we are going to the beach this weekend, and theres nothing like seeing yourself in a bathing suit to motivate you to lose weight.
